We received an email from William Hincks of Brity First Aid about defibrillator machines in our area.
“I hope you are well. I was wondering whether you might be able to share the page below with local residents, either as a link on your website or news page, or a post on your social media.
We work in partnership with British Red Cross and St John Ambulance on first aid training and education.
We have put together a free page for your area showing the defibrillators in and around Liberton and District, along with a printable poster for noticeboards, churches and community centres, and a short free online course covering the basics: spotting a cardiac arrest, CPR, and using a defibrillator.
In research by St John Ambulance, 52% of people said they did not know where their nearest defibrillator was. When one is used within the first few minutes it makes an enormous difference to whether someone survives. We hope that by working with local communities we can improve that.
Could you add a link to the page from your council website, ideally on your homepage or a community or emergency information page? It takes a couple of minutes and means residents can find their nearest defibrillator ahead of time when it matters. A post on your social pages would help too.

The Southern end of Mayfield Road has now reopened in both directions. Some resurfacing work has been done. This junction, unfortunately, remains the only major arterial route junction in South Edinburgh which lacks a full pedestrian crossing sequence. It is still not possible to cross Kirk Brae or Mayfield Road safely at this 5-way junction….
