Annual General Meeting 2019

When: 4th June 2019 at 8pm

Where: Liberton Kirk Halls Kirkgate

Did you know Edinburgh’s Green Belt is under threat again?

The area is currently under review in Sesplan2. Mactaggart & Mickel have options on sites 28, 29, 30 & 32 below which are currently within the Green Belt, if these are removed from the designated area and built on, it will be a disaster for the local amenity and area.

Please come along to our AGM to show your support and find out more.

It was good to see such a large turnout for the AGM which shows there is an interest in the community. That said, the focus of the meeting was on the green belt and planning issues. And while they are important; there are many matters affecting the area that crop up from time to time and I feel if the Association should be involved in these as necessary. For example, the problem with the four shipping containers that comprised the Liberton Football Club changing rooms located at the south eastern entrance to Liberton Park. These have not been used since July 2017 and in November of that year the Council agreed they were unfit for purpose. They have since deteriorated further and are now infested with vermin and are a real eyesore. This was raised at the AGM with Councillor Lezley Cameron, so hopefully the matter will now receive proper attention and they will finally be removed.

      Dear Duncan
We have recently formed an amenities group who will be following this up. We’ll let the community know when we make progress.

    Hi Duncan
See our Twitter feed for some action on the Liberton Park shipping containers – hope for some movement from the Council otherwise more public shaming from the Liberton Association will ensue
